The Open Commons of Phenomenology

Giovanni Piana (1940-2019)

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Giovanni Piana, who died yesterday February 27th at the age of 78.

A student of Enzo Paci, Giovanni Piana was a highly original voice and a foremost representative of a branch of the phenomenological movement - its various Italian "schools" - whose particular relevance has yet to be properly assessed.

Next to his very significant philosophical contributions Giovanni Piana was a pioneer in creating an open archive of his complete writings, available through the website of the University of Milan (http:/www.filosofia.unimi.it/piana)
