The conference of october 27–29, 1933

René van der Veer

pp. 391-401

This chapter is based on notes written in violet ink in an exercise book with a cream-colored cover. The name of the conference is written on the cover. The internal conference was dedicated to themes that are rarely discussed in Vygotsky's published writings. Vygotsky presents a plan for the study of child neuroses that differs substantially from the psychoanalytic approach; suggests an approach to the study of character development based on a new unit of analysis, the unit of experience; offers ideas for the study of psychomotor skills viewed as meaningful movements; and, finally, discusses the problems of difficult childhood (the upbringing of children who suffered from epidemic encephalitis).
