The stature and wisdom of Zen's "knowing the mind before seeing the nature"

Shuren Wang

pp. 233-307

Zen is the product of the fusion of Chinese traditional culture with Buddhism after the latter was introduced into China and, resultantly, it is no longer Buddhism in the sense of the religion originating from India but one containing Chinese cultural details with Chinese characteristics. There is not Zen qua a section of Buddhism in India but for a cultivating method of Zen there.
