Home intervention for people with severe and enduring mental health problems – assertive community treatment (ACT) – is an intensive intervention programme in the community for people with severe mental illnesses. In the 35 years since the introduction of this specific model, numerous intervention teams were established worldwide, while the criticism directed at the model on the matter of methodology (intervention techniques and targeting) as well as the cost-effectiveness of similar programmes is interesting. Hereinafter, the authors examine the attempts made to form similar teams in Greece, while focusing on the particular socioeconomic conditions and legal/institutional framework in which such attempts were made.Finally, they present the EPAPSY Day Centre Home Intervention Team and, at the same time, raise the question concerning the manner in which such teams will be supported and framed.
