Sensualities/Textualities & Technologies: Writings of the Body in 21st Cen tury Performance explores the interrelation of text, body and technology in performance. Our intention is to provide an edited collection which reconsiders textual practices in contemporary performance specifically focusing on the exciting exchange between writerly texts, body and technology. This collection adds to our previous co-edited publication, Performance and Technology: Practices of Virtual Embodiment and Interactivity , which placed emphasis on the corporeal in arts practice in this technologica age. It also adds a further dimension to Palgrave Macmillan's series on Performance and Technology, which includes Digital Practices: Aesthetic and Neuroaesthetic Approaches to Performance and Technology. Crucially, the chapters in this book include analysis of important textual practices that are central to contemporary performance. In particular, they offer an interrogation of diverse "textualities', that is, performance writing that is indebted to sensual "writings of the body' in all manner of ways. At the same time the collection looks to new approaches offered by ongoing textual practices in physical, visual and virtual performance that incorporate new and existing technologies.
