World views are a kind of attempts to explain the world as a whole, whereas philosophy – as the "love of wisdom" – incorporates wisdom into the performance of all human activities. To be wise, act and live wisely, does not necessarily presuppose any religious or other explanation of the world as a whole, though in a society there might be various connections between the various ways of behaving and an explanation of the world class="EmphasisTypeItalic ">as a whole. In a society where certain existing rules derived from the world views that prevail often lead to wrong action, it is necessary to use wisdom as a guide to behaviour.
