Logotherapy beyond psychotherapy

dealing with the spiritual dimension

Dmitry A. Leontiev

pp. 277-290

This article offers a broad overview on logotherapy and its place in, as well as its common grounds with, and differences to other branches of psychotherapy, and psychology in general. The article argues that when talking about Frankl's logotherapy, we may have in mind either the system of anthropological and psychological views or a form of psychotherapy. The twofold image of logotherapy, i.e., logotherapy as philosophy and psychological theory, on the one hand, and, on the other, logotherapy as practice, the "Third Viennese School of Psychoanalysis," is discussed in a variety of contexts.
