We live in a world fraught with hostility and alienation at both interpersonal and societal levels. The media barrage us with reports of ethnic wars growing out of centuries of hatred and distrust, political terrorism, random violence in the streets, domestic violence, child abuse of various sorts—the list seems endless. Clearly, there is a tremendous amount of hurt in our lives—both personal and cultural. What is the impact of injury on our lives? How can we heal from it?
