(1978) Mental health: philosophical perspectives, Dordrecht, Springer.
To speak of mental health is to talk either as though minds could have difficulties in partial independence of their bodies, or as though a clear distinction could be drawn between the life of the mind and the life of the body. And surely minds can be distinguished from bodies, and bodies from minds, in the sense that we can speak of one without implying the other. This, though, does not mean that the terms "mind" and "body" identify separate substances.
