In traditional philosophical terms, the topic of my paper could be said to be the place of humans in the cosmos, considered from a metaphysical, epistemological and ethical perspective. Less traditionally, I could say that my concern is with postmodern ecological ethics. However, since neither of those summaries is particulary informative, let me begin by sketching the outline of my argument instead.
