The tenryuubito and the resistance to it

exemplifying cultural-political enclaves

pp. 141-168

This chapter looks at ideological apparatus and its impact on the Asian built environment. Through a comparative analysis of the cultural-political contours of architecture and urbanism in the Asia Pacific, this chapter brings together transdisciplinary ideas which the decolonisation character of Asia contains. It also analyses Asia's cultural-political enclavisation phenomenon by cross-examining it with concepts proposed in anthropological geography and postcolonial studies, and with empirical observations within the Asia Pacific region.
