Of late, the question of the real difference between philosophical analysis and phenomenology has received encouraging attention.18 There are those who think that the two are completely different ways of doing philosophy, phenomenology belonging essentially to the era before the "revolution in philosophy". Others believe that the difference has been vastly exaggerated and that fundamentally there is no practical difference between the two. Personally, I am not ready to side with either view. Instead, I suggest putting the matter to a concrete test which could provide the basis for a meaningful comparison.
