Being George

Robert Berman, Elena Makarova

pp. 101-117

In this chapter we examine the significance of origins to George Berman a Polish immigrant, who late in life began talking to children about the Holocaust, which he had survived as a Polish Jew. We analyse the significance of his memories of his origins in establishing his post-war self-identity.
