In the fields of Naomi Wallace

Jessica Dromgoole

pp. 203-206

The London New Play Festival, where I first came across Naomi's work, was—like so many ad hoc, unsubsidized festivals—the coming together, for a noisy moment, of people on the way up, people on the way down, and people standing still. People on the way down were often the best company, and the people standing still could be navigated around. Naomi and I were on our way up, me to the nearest hilltop and Naomi to the stars.
