(2018) Lacan and the posthuman, Basingstoke, Palgrave Macmillan.
In Encore, Lacan insists that "I am situated essentially on the side of the baroque." 1 What does this situation imply? Certainly, Lacan has been both praised and castigated for his "baroque" style of writing and presentation, but, if we are going to take his declaration seriously, what are the implications of this remark, beyond those of attempting to speak and write in a way that remains faithful to the subtlety and complexity of mathemic thought? In order to answer this question, I want to follow Lacan's own advice and take him literally.
