Moving into mainstreaming — an integrated approach to adapted physical education

N. Henderson

pp. 167-170

What a gift to be living in an age when society's trend is toward inclusion and acceptance of individuals with disabilities! What an opportunity educators have to expose young people to the options evident in a vibrant, diverse, integrated school population! We are especially fortunate to have chosen a curriculum area that directly impacts upon our student's physical, social, and recreational needs. Let's examine how we as Adapted Physical Education (APE) specialists can protect the child's right to an education in the "least restrictive environment."
