Philosophical and christological arguments for hospitality as a dialogical model

This chapter will explore the philosophical, theological, and cultural ways hospitality can be used to foster an enduring model of interreligious encounter/dialogue. A concise study of the philosophical contributions of René Descartes, Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger, Jean-Luc Marion, and Jacques Derrida on the discourse on hospitality will be pursued. These contributions will be analyzed using the thoughts of Martin Buber and Emmanuel Levinas whose works will be the foundation for articulating the philosophical arguments for hospitality as a dialogical tool for encounters among religions.
