(2016) Cultures of transition and sustainability, Basingstoke, Palgrave Macmillan.
In the light of the preceding chapters, this one re-examines the notion of sustainability from a specifically cultural perspective. It raises the possibility of there being many sustainabilities depending on the bio-regional characteristics of particular locations, cultural differences, less well known models of sustainable practices suggested by anthropology, new development alternatives and the impact of emerging issues such as the (universal) effects of climate change, but which will have different local consequences. The "co-evolution" of culture and sustainability is proposed as one of the key ways in which long term sustainability can be achieved.
