a missing piece in the puzzle that is religious education in catholic schools

pp. 245-256

Religious Education (RE) is considered a key learning area in Australian Catholic schools. Since the establishment of a separate faith-based education system in the 1850s, Religious Education has largely been the vehicle by which the Church has transmitted the Catholic Christian tradition across generations. Religious Education in Australian Catholic schools involves learning about religion and participating in the Catholic tradition with the aim of developing students as religiously literate people of faith.
